PAW University!

Today was our second day of PAW (Projects At Work) University! The kids are so excited about learning more about their own topics of interest and discussing ways we can impact our community!

Mrs. Bohac's Scientists!

First grade has had a fun week learning about how heating and cooling can change an object!

We have learned about solids and liquids and how an object can change from one to the other.

Check out these fun activities!

Crayons were heated up and they turned into a liquid, making a fun fall pumpkin!

Popsicles were frozen! As we ate them, they started to turn back into a liquid!

Popcorn kernels were heated up and turned into a yummy snack!

We started learning about heat by exploring the pictures and figuring out how they go together! We sorted the pictures by seeing how things change when you add heat to them. The popsicle melted when heat was added. The pancake batter turned into pancakes when cooked on the stove.

We used 3 different temperatures of water to see how the molecules moved in each. (red-room temperature, blue-ice cold, green-hot)

When something is hot, the molecules move fast! –William
